A question that is pretty common is “How Do I Find A Therapist?”. You are sitting in your bed and you realize that it is time to make a change, so you talk to your friend and he or she tells you maybe you need a therapist. You do a wild google search and words come up like “mental health counselor”, “clinical counselor”, “mental health technician”, “telehealth mental professional”, “psychiatrist”, and “psychologist”, and the list continues! You have asked you, friends, you have gone through 8 pages of google sites, and side links; and you are just as lost as you started out. You thought it would be easy to simply type in a therapist and now you are further into the google web search then you are on Netflix binge-watching Greys Anatomy on your day off. So what now?

Finding a therapist should not be like Finding Waldo! It should be a quick search that takes a few moments. Hopefully, these few tips help make the search a lot easier!

Ask yourself what am I looking for?

- Individual

- Couple

- Family

Questions to Consider:

Where do you live and how far are you willing to drive? Are you looking for in-person or over the phone? Are you paying with cash, card, insurance, or siding scale? If you are in school, what counseling services does your school offer?

In Georgia these schools have counseling centers:

- Mercer University (Atlanta and Macon) – offers telehealth

- Georgia State

- Georgia Southern

- Savannah State

- Augusta

- Georgia Tech

And many more!

How about we take a breath and absorb that information! So we know where to look, what we are looking for, and what we need! How do we start looking?

Now, where do you start looking?

Psychology today is perfect for searching for exactly what you want! If you want a theorist that speaks a certain language, you can use that filter option!

Once you find a therapist, READ THE BIOS! Their picture and bios are the keys to finding out whether they will be a good fit for you! After you do that, now it is time to schedule a consultation! Call and ask if you can set up a free consultation to go over any other questions you may have!

So what do we provide?

Check out our website and look at our therapist bios!

We have therapists that see couples, families, and kiddos! If you want someone who uses EFT we have a therapist for that! Maybe you want a therapist that uses play therapy? We have that too!

If you want to schedule click here!
